Now here is how to enjoy your mid summer bonfires in style.

This project was fun to work on, as we had never done a raised fire pit before. A few concerns go into making a raised fire pit. A special
ring is needed to disseminate the heat produced by a fire, and standard wall stone concrete will break down quickly from the heat of a
fire, (It has also been known to explode under the heat of a fire, so please be careful when using standard wall stone in fire pits). Here
we used two cement fire pit rings stacked on top of each other to give us the height. These rings are specially made with materials to
withstand the heat of a fire. We then built the decorative ring around the inner ring. Finally, we were ready to put the paver patio in.
In working with the homeowner, they stated they wanted a fire pit that was raised, I wasn't so sure, as I didn't want to have a chimney
effect with this fire pit. After much research into how to construct this pit, we moved forward. After completing it, I was very pleasantly
surprised. I love the look and have found that the raised fire pit is better than a ground fire pit for things such as roasting hot dogs or
marshmallows, and it sure is easy to make smores with this raised fire pit too.
Another aspect that is very nice is the safety of a raised fire pit. Your kids are safer around it, as there is less chance of them, or anyone,
from falling into it; nor will they try and jump over it (as we know most kids like to do). It is also more safe to be around when you do not
have a fire going. This fire pit is raised about 18 inches above the pavers, so it can be easily used as a seat.
